When a page on your website does not load, an error message will be displayed to the website visitor. As there are different errors, there are different pages that'll show up, but what's standard for all of them is that they're generic and in all probability shall have nothing in common with the layout of your website, which could be irritating for any site visitor. That is the primary reason why hosting service providers have introduced a function referred to as Custom Error Pages. For a number of different errors, site visitors will see your unique content, which may be informative or funny, in accordance with your personal preference, and which shall match the overall layout of your Internet site, so the pages shall not appear as if they aren't part of your website at all. You can use this option for numerous errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting

The customized error pages feature is provided with every cloud hosting package which we offer and you will be able to replace all of the generic pages with your own with no more than a few mouse clicks in your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel. You'll need to develop the actual files and to upload them to your account, then to set them for a particular domain or subdomain through the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP. You can do this for every site hosted inside the account individually, so that each group of custom made pages shall have identical design as the site it is part of. If needed, you could always return back to a default page from our system or to a default Apache server page. Another way to set customized error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain/subdomain root folder and to include a few lines in it. If you haven't done this before, you can simply copy the necessary code from our Help article on this subject.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All of the semi-dedicated hosting that we supply support custom made error pages and it shall not take more than a few clicks inside your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel to use this functionality. The option is available in the Hosted Domains section of your CP in which you'll need to type in the links to the custom-made files using simple drop-down menus and an easy to work with interface. Of course, you have to upload them in your account before that. In case you don't want to use this feature at some point, you will be able to deactivate it just as fast and select an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be shown if your visitors encounter an error. If you prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to enable the custom error pages. The file should have a specific line of code plus a link for every single error type and you can find an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
